Thank you Beth for making the sale of my parents' property in GPW goes so smoothly. I truly believe that putting me in contact with Virginia at Stage-Show-Sell made all the difference! I could not have gotten the home ready for sale by myself...not easy to clear out 61 years of "stuff". Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that we would have an offer on day 17! From the staging to the inspection to the appraisal and finally to closing everything went so well. Anyone out there looking for a great agent should go see Beth Pressler!

It's March 24th...almost the end of the 1st Quarter. Change is in the air! Spring is on its way...sometimes a change of scenery (offices) is a good thing. It gives fresh eyes to things that I've been doing for years. It frees me to take my creative streak to a new level. Is it easy? Heck no...but as the song says, "to everything, turn, turn, turn - to every season, turn, turn, turn". I've turned. Have YOU turned??

Happy New Year! Hope everyone's holidays were wonderful! This time of year brings so much emotion to life - being with family at Christmas and then moving on to new beginnings at the New Year! My husband and I just took the plunge and purchased a vacation home in northern Michigan -Harbor Springs. Very exciting - lots of work and stressful to be happening around the holidays. Back to New Year thoughts...have you wrote down your business plan for this new year? It helps provide focus...keep it in a special place to look upon every now and then. This is a dynamic plan - it is meant to be reshaped during the year. Here's to a fabulously healthy, happy and prosperous 2010 to you and yours!

I'm really trying to get used to blogging once a week - not working out so well...yet! Lots of things on my mind: met with about 12 terrific women last night for a networking dinner. Had a psychic reading - kind of creepy...relatively fun (mostly good information) but still a little creepy :) I'm concerned about the First Time Home-Buyer Tax Credit extension. We in the real estate industry are hoping that it is extended. Some people feel that the Government is getting too involved in the private sector. If more sales come from this tax credit - I'm all for it (as are most of my colleagues). At our last Sales Meeting we invited a lender with her underwriters. It was quite interesting hearing the background of the underwriters and, in this particular situation, that they are local residents. Getting ready for Halloween! Dont' forget to "Fall Back" Saturday night!

Spent most of the day last Tuesday on the NAR (Nat'l Assoc. of REALTORS) webinar seminars. Terrific information that was *FREE* to those who signed up early enough! I especially loved (always do) John Tuccillo, NAR's past Chief Economic Advisor. John's insight is amazing...his forecasts on how we'll be doing our business is thought-provoking. http://www.johntuccillo.com/forecasts/forecast.php

The First-Time Buyers Tax Credit may come to an end soon! It's a fine line our lobbyists are walking when talking about extending this tax credit. We want buyers out there to take advantage quickly - we'd also like to see an extension for those jumping in the marketplace. NAR has released stats and much of the increase in sales is due to our first-time buyers getting into the marketplace.

Yesterday in our office Sales Meeting, we had Guest Speaker James Moffet from the Grosse Pointe Public Library. I never knew our Library offered so much to our residents!!

Here's just a snippet of things our Grosse Pointe Library offers:
* Walkable access to 3 branch Libraries in a community @ 9 sq. miles
* Over 50 computers available for use in the libraries
* A tool collection available for "checking out" - from earth augers to x-acto sets
* Teen Advisory Board - concerts near the Library/planning outdoor films
* Extensive Classic films collection
* Museum Adventure Pass - a neat feature that allows you to visit area Art/Museum/Institutes (with restrictions, of course)
*Outreach Services - if you can't get to the Library, the Library will get to you! Seniors, recuperating patients, nursing facilities...
* MEL.org - Michigan's Library reciprocity - find books, full-text articles, etc.
* Art prints - loaned to residents from 1 to 3 months

What does YOUR Library do for You?? The Grosse Pointe Public Library is a hidden gem just waiting for you to discover all it's wonders!

You're right - some of it can be a scam. What I like, though, is that everyone gets to choose...choices are good. If I want to buy the top-of-the-line appliance that's energy efficient - hey, I should be able to do that. There should be people who can lead me to these appliances (or whatever item is "green-friendly".

The truth of the matter is that people are conscious of being energy efficient - from a simply act of "recycling" cans of pop to building windmills in northern Michigan.

Choice is the key here - hopefully we'll all have that choice and our government won't force it upon us.
